Beijing Yanqing Winter Olympic Village
Beijing, China

Located at the foot of Haituo Mountain within the Yanqing competition area, the Beijing Yanqing Winter Olympic Village was developed to accommodate athletes and team officials during the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Supporting a sustainable home for the Winter Olympics

The village combines residential, hospitality and supporting facilities within a mountain setting, providing a carefully integrated environment for athletes while responding to the challenging terrain and climate of the site. The development covers 12.88 hectares with approximately 91,000 m² of gross floor area and capacity for 1,430 beds, with an additional 235-bed reserved area.

Engineering for a world-class sporting destination

Designed as part of the Yanqing competition area for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the village is arranged across the natural terrain at the foot of Haituo Mountain. Its planning and architecture draw inspiration from traditional Beijing courtyard dwellings, creating a series of interconnected spaces that respond to the surrounding landscape.

Meinhardt provided MEP engineering services, supporting the building systems required to create a comfortable, efficient and reliable environment for athletes, officials and visitors.

Designed for the Games and beyond

The Yanqing Olympic Village was conceived with a long-term legacy in mind. Following the Games, the facilities were planned for conversion into an eco-tourism resort and year-round leisure destination, extending the value of the development beyond the Olympic period.
